Camp
Camp
For adults. Registration required.
Join us for a delightful journey back in time with our campy, nostalgic-themed art projects, where creativity and fun collide in a celebration of summer camp.
I designed this Camp concept with our Summer Reading Program in mind. When I think of summer I think of camp - campy camp, think Parent Trap.
I came up with a long list of nostalgic crafts and asked our adult services coordinator to pick her favorites. Hopefully you feel inspired as well!
Session 1: Sand Art
Attendance: 7
For this Camp session I purchased two sand art kits. Some of the adults never played with sand art before and others were excited to have the opportunity to make it again. It's truly amazing how little things bring out the light in others.
Session 2: Friendship Bracelets
Attendance: 2
Everyone remembers making the knotted embroidery floss bracelets with their best friends. My sister and I always made these during the summer for some reason. It was great to break out my grandma's embroidery floss box and teach others the various techniques with braiding and knotting.
Session 3: Perler Beads
Attendance: 3
Ahh, Perler beads. The adults made some amazing melted creations that they turned into magnets or keychains. They had a great time picking out designs and colors. I made sure to pack my Cricut mini iron for the program as it's easy to forget that you need an iron for melting!
Session 4: Tie-dye shirts
Attendance: 4
What a more perfect way to end Camp than with a good old tie-dye shirt! For this tie-dye program we used a Tulip bottle kit. It's important to remember to bring rubber bands for them to tie up their creations.
